Painted poppies SN tutorial 10th July

Hi everybody, for my tutorial today I thought I would show you how I used my new stamp set from Altenew called Painted Poppies.

At first I was a bit scared as I wasn't really sure how these worked, however after a bit of googling this is what I came up with.

For this card I have used Spectrum Aqua pens - Jasmine, Fawn, Lime, Peach, Begonia, Blossom.

First of all I cut a piece of watercolour card, I then coloured in the poppy background with Jasmine...yes I coloured straight onto the stamp, stamped my image on the card. I stamped the poppy twice as I wanted to have a couple of poppies intertwined with each other on my card.

Next I scribbled some of the Jasmine onto acetate and lifted the colour directly onto a brush and just added some extra shading.

Next I coloured the centre part of the poppy with Fawn and stamped onto both poppies.

With a versamark pad I then stamped up the poppy outline and then embossed with gold embossing powder.

Next I coloured the leafy stamp and stamped it where I thought would be best for that leaf to sit.

I then inked up the the leaf outline and embossed with gold embossing powder.

I thought my poppies looked a bit bare so I added another poppy stem and embossed this and then using the colours on my card and some extra colours, I scribbled all the colours onto acetate, spritzed them and then using a paintbrush to make them really wet I lifted the colour and made little splashes all over the card....still leaving it quite delicate.

I then trimmed the image to size and here's my final card, I added some little pearls and gems and some twine.

Pop over to the Spectrum Noir blog for more tutorials from the team.
